During its reign as the pre-eminent boy band of the 2010s, One Direction scored four No. 1 albums. Now two of its former members have also reached the top.

Harry Styles’s self-titled new album, released by Columbia, has opened at the peak on Billboard’s latest album chart, with the equivalent of 230,000 sales in the United States, according to Nielsen. That includes 193,000 copies sold of the full album, as well as almost 40 million streams for its songs, and those numbers give Mr. Styles, 23, some bragging rights: When his former bandmate Zayn Malik released “Mind of Mine” last year, it also reached No. 1, but its first-week sales stalled at 157,000.

Also on the album chart this week, the Zac Brown Band’s “Welcome Home” (Elektra) opened at No. 2, Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.” holds at No. 3, Chris Stapleton’s “From a Room: Volume 1” is No. 4, and the “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2” soundtrack is in fifth place. The rock band Paramore opened at No. 6 with its new “After Laughter,” and last week’s chart topper, “Everybody” by the rapper Logic, fell to No. 11 in its second week out.
